Episode 157 / Friday Night Oldies Party Chapter 11

ColinEpisode157

Welcome to our Third Anniversary episode on Mixcloud! We’ve been spinning the tunes for three years here without so much as a letup, so we thought that for this adventure, it would be fitting that we bring you Chapter 11 of Friday Night Oldies series — rockers from long ago when Fred Flintstone was a boy. Following an animated introduction from the amazing Jason Bonham (Son of Bonzo), we start off our excursion within Chuck Berry territory as well as some rock a beatin’ boogie from the one and only Bill Haley (who adorns this week’s show artwork). Episode 156 / Where Were You In The Summer of Love

ColinEpisode156

We cheerfully bring you another helping of animated lysergic psychedelia on this outing of the Captain Maniac Show, entitled “Where Were You In the Summer of Love”. As we say in the show, although the actual Summer of Love was 1967, this doesn’t necessarily mean that our entire episode contains songs from that year. On the contrary, we’ve already included plenty of 1967 tunes in previous Psychedelic Oldies broadcasts, so some of tonight’s songs could possibly be from an another dimension entirely. Episode 154 / Running On Empty

ColinEpisode154

Back to our theme shows we go, and this time every tune has the word “run” in the title. As we’ve stressed before in previous theme programs, this is by no means a comprehensive list of ALL the songs that have that word in the title, so some of your favorites may be missing (“Run Like Hell” by Pink Floyd is conspicuously absent, although to remedy that situation, we’ve included Pink Floyd’s “On the Run”). Just curious: was this from the Peter Sellers album “Dark Side of the Goon”? And yes, we HAVE included the Rolling Stones’ magical masterpiece, “Turd On the Run”. I have a feeling that Keef may have had something to do with that title!

1.  Pat Travers – Runnin’ From the Future

2.  Van Halen – Running With the Devil

3.  Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers – Runnin’ Down A Dream

4.  Allman Brothers – No One To Run With

6.  Krokus – I’m On the Run

7.  Airbourne – Runnin’ Wild

8.  Iron Maiden – Run To The Hills

9.  Jackson Browne – Running On Empty

10. Stray Cats – Runaway Boys

11. Chuck Berry – Run Rudolph Run
