Episode 171 / Never Mind the Bollocks Here’s Captain Maniac

ColinEpisode171

Time once again for another thrill-packed episode of The Captain Maniac Show, every Monday on Mixcloud.com! This week we bring you “Episode 171 / Never Mind the Bollocks, Here’s Captain Maniac”, and you’d be forgiven for assuming that this installment is a two hour show devoted to the Sex Pistols — in a clever ploy to grab your attention (that bright yellow caught your eye, didn’t it?), our poster and cover art are merely a tribute to Johnny Rotten’s iconic 70s album, with only the first three songs being actual Sex Pistols’ tunes! The rest of the show is a testimonial to those wild and crazy 70s, featuring MY favourite tunes that I used to blast on my eight track player on road trips, such as UFO, Atomic Rooster, Captain Beyond, Queen, Johnny Winter, Bloodrock, David Bowie and Montrose to name but a few. I just want a holiday in the sun!

After a two year absence, it’s time once again for yet another of our Space In Your Face episodes, this time entitled Episode 168 / U.F.O. Unfortunately for all you metal heads, there are no songs in tonight’s episode recorded by UFO (the UK band with Phil Mogg, Pete Way and occasionally Michael Shenker). Instead, we journey to the stars in alien interplanetary craft, with not of this earth rock and roll music that has some however tenuous connection with flying saucers. That’s right, the Billy Lee Riley version of “Flyin’ Saucers Rock ‘N’ Roll” is featured, along with Creedence Clearwater Revival’s “It Came Out of the Sky”! Tape me to your leaper!

Episode 167 / Stooge Mayhem

Episoode167_StoogeMayhem

With a name like “Stooge Mayhem”, you’d assume (however correctly) that the show would be totally comprised of songs by the inimitable Iggy Pop and the Stooges, but think again! Although the first three songs on tonight’s program are indeed from The Stooges’ wild and crazy catalog, we have chosen instead to present a further collection of certified and socially unacceptable rockers (mainly because we’ve included much of the Stooges material in previous shows). Tonight’s show is dedicated to the memory of my old departed buddy, Mr. Stolie Sylte (he finally left the planet after a prolonged bout with ALS),. He was a huge fan of The Three Stooges, and referred to their films as “Stooge Mayhem”. Disorder in the court!

1   The Stooges – Search and Destroy

2   The Stooges – Down On the Street

3   The Stooges – Loose

4   The Romantics – What I Like About You

5   Brian Setzer – The House Is A Rockin’

7   AC/DC – Up To My Neck In You

8   AC/DC – Guns For Hire

9   Airbourne – Heartbreaker

10 Collective Soul – Better Now

11 Scorpions – Loving You Sunday Morning

12 Gun – Steal Your Fire

13 Pat Travers Power Trio – Nasty Dogs  & Funky Kings

14 Aviator Shades – Tallahassee Woman
