Episode 38 / Sparkling Apple

ColinEpisode38

EPISODE 38 Tonight we’re doing something completely unprecedented in the history of The Captain Maniac Show: we’re devoting the entire program to just ONE band! However, this is no ordinary musical outfit — on the contrary, Episode 38 is all about a band from my misguided youth, namely Sparkling Apple, with whom I played drums for over 40 years. Nearly all lineups of this group are represented here — Rocky Rockamoto to Stringbean to Buzz Constantly to Kevin Stuart Swain — in a collection of bootlegs, live recordings and board tapes not found anywhere else in the known universe. We get under way with my hero, Jimi Hendrix… in a tune not called Golden Rose, as the lyrics suggest, but with the rather evocative title of “One Rainy Wish”. And in light of the recent horrific violence throughout the world, one of tonight’s tunes is especially appropriate:
